Explore sleep campaigns created by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine in accordance with the National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project (NHSAP). These campaigns have great information and useful infographics that you can share.

The National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project began in 2013 and ended September 2018. It was established by a cooperative agreement between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The long-term goal of the National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project was to promote improved sleep health in the U.S. The project increased public awareness of the importance of healthy sleep. It also promoted the treatment and prevention of sleep disorders.

The National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project is a Consortium Member of Healthy People 2020, and focused on promoting and meeting the sleep health objectives. Healthy People 2020 is a 10-year agenda to improve the nation’s health. The sleep health objectives are to:

  • Increase the medical evaluation of people with symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea
  • Reduce vehicular crashes due to drowsy driving
  • Increase the rate of U.S. teens and adults who get sufficient sleep
