The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) is currently working to develop a new clinical practice guideline on the treatment of central sleep apnea in adult patients. We are seeking individuals who would be interested in contributing to this project as a volunteer patient or caregiver stakeholder.

In this role, the participant would serve as a representative for the average adult patient or caregiver of a patient with central sleep apnea and share their perspective with the team of physicians who are working on this guideline.  Your insight will help our team ensure they create a transparent and trustworthy guideline that benefits physicians and patients.

As a patient or caregiver stakeholder, you will be contacted by AASM staff over the course of the project to provide your unique perspectives and experiences regarding the treatment of central sleep apnea. The patient stakeholders will be requested to provide feedback on developing and completing a patient stakeholder survey. The purpose of the stakeholder survey is to help us better identify symptoms and side effects that are most important when considering treatment options relevant to patients and their caregivers. In approximately one year, the patient stakeholder will be contacted again to provide feedback on the drafted guideline documents. At the completion of the project, the patient stakeholders will be contacted a final time to review the patient guide and complete a short survey on their involvement in the guideline development process.

We ask that you submit your contact information for this project via email to Jessica Page, PhD, MEd, Clinical Guidelines & Research Project Manager, at [email protected] by February 23rd, 2022.

The AASM would like to thank you in advance for your consideration.
