High school students have until February 29 to enter the 2016 Sleep Story Video Contest. Sponsored by the American Sleep Medicine Foundation, the contest invites teens to make and submit a creative video about the importance of sleep.

Up for grabs is a grand prize of $1,000 – split evenly between the winning student and his or her school. Second and third-place prizes of $500 and $250 also will be awarded.

Video entries must be between 30 seconds and 2 minutes in length. Entries can be serious or funny, dramatic or quirky. Judging criteria include message relevance and accuracy. Videos also will be judged on originality and overall quality. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on February 29, 2016.

Grand Prize
Gus Goetze won the 2015 grand prize with his video, “The Importance of Sleep.” He is a student at Barrington High School in Illinois.

Second Place
Tommy Derken took second place with the video, “A Day in the Life.” He attends Barrington High School in Illinois.

Third Place
Sam Lubell won the third-place prize. He is a student at Notre Dame High School in Glendale, California.
